BioPro Rabies EUSA Ab kitAccording to the WHO guidelines the efficiency of rabies oral vaccination campaigns should be controlled by detection of specific virus-neutralizing antibody.

Unfortunately, golden standard tests like FAVN and RFFIT, broadly used in pet schemes, are not very suitable for wildlife samples which might be often toxic or autolysed.

Inspired by above situation we have developed and validated blocking ELISA test for detection of rabies glycoprotein G antibodies in fox sera and body fluids which is a robust, efficient and reliable tool for routine laboratory use.

The Biopro Rabies ELISA Ab kit is:

  • Blocking ELISA diagnostic kit for detection of Rabies virus antibody in serum or plasma
  • test with 100% specificity - on panel of negative fox samples
  • test with 95,5% sensitivity - compared with FAVN on panel of experimental fox and dog sera
  • robust & routinely used in the laboratory for several years
  • species independent
    • fox samples – validated
    • dogs and raccoon dogs - under study
  • suitable for diluted samples due to high analytical sensitivity
  • easy to use
  • suitable both for manual or robotic performance

    The purpose of this evaluation performed by ANSES Rabies Laboratory was  to independently evaluate performance of BioPro RABIES ELISA Ab kit with wildlife serum samples (foxes) in the context of oral vaccination campaigns surveillance.

    The authors reported 100% diagnostic specificity, 98,69% diagnostical sensitivity and very high coeficitent of  concordance with FAVN.

    It is very important for  us that the ANSES Rabies Laboratory which is OIE and European Union Reference Laboratory for Rabies has confirmed characteristics of our BioPro RABIES ELISA Ab kit.
